Description

Description: This is the second in a series of drawings I did using chicken bones.

The preliminary process: I bought a whole roasted chicken for my suite at college, and after its consumption took the bones and boiled them.

The concept: This is an extended exploration of my concepts on Skin, which I began over the summer with my work, If skin were like clothing, removable and changeable, could we transform whom we wanted to be, or would the change be merely superficial? And if at the end we found only a want to return to whom we originally were, could we? After all, we cannot wear our old baby clothes.

The execution: Each of these drawings is composed of metamorphic layers of assorted subject matter, made relatable by their visual and physical attributes; I combined a base of reference material with spontaneous drawing from the imagination. The drawings each took between seven and nine hours; the series in total took about 50.

very interesting concept and style. good that you explore this kind of stuff. i've gotta say, this is a bit too experimental for my taste, but i still do admire the work you put into it ;)

Hmm... if I were to critique anything I would say that the image feels a bit busy.
Nice work with the black//white ink feel!
